Set on a pristine 9km beach, Aava Resort & Spa, near the small fishing town of Khanom, is one of Thailand’s last untouched coastal destinations enjoying glorious beaches, friendly villagers, and rare pink dolphins. Perfect for both families and couples.
Accommodation
Aava has just 28 contemporary style bungalows and villas, each with a daybed that can be converted into an extra bed for a child. The Superior Bungalows are slightly larger than the Deluxe Bungalows. The Poolside Villas have direct access into the main swimming pool and are situated right on the beach front. The Family Villas have two bedrooms.
Activities & Experiences
Apart from enjoying the pristine beach and relaxing by the pool, there's fabulous snorkeling at nearby Tan and Raab Islands, you can be pampered in the spa and join any of the daily health and fitness classes. yoga, tai chi, meditation and pilates classes. If you would like to get out and explore, a visit to nearby Khanom on market day is a definitely worthwhile, as is the 3 mile trek to the largest waterfall in southern Thailand: Krung Ching. On another day, how about a guided kayaking expedition down the river to experience life within the mangrove forest?

The Aava Spa has been created to harmoniously fuse ancient Thai techniques with modern treatments, spa treatments and therapies are administered by fully-qualified and experienced practitioners. There's also a daily schedule of classes, such as yoga, Pilates, tai chi, Muay Thai boxing, meditation and stretching.

The onsite restaurant, Aalto, is a romantic and intimate fine-dining experience on the beach. Expect European influences mixed with Asian delights. For something a little more casual, try Aava Pizzeria & Bakery. The charming little restaurant provides traditional wood-fired pizzas, freshly baked bread and scrumptious pastries.
Weather & Seasons
Hot and sunny year-round with temperatures generally in the mid to high twenties, but nudging up above the 30°C mark between April and August. The tropical climate means it's susceptible to short, sharp rain storms at any time. However, these rarely last more than 30 minutes and are most frequent in October and November.
Getting Here
Fly from London to Surat Thani, via Bangkok, followed by a one hour transfer to Aava from the airport. Alternatively, fly to Phuket direct, followed by a 3 hour transfer. If you're transferring from Koh Samui, there's a fast ferry service that takes about 45 minutes to Surat Thani.
Worth Considering
Stop-over in Bangkok en route and stay at boutique riverside Sala Rattanakosin or family friendly Anantara Riverside
Combine with a stay on Koh Samui (45 minutes away by ferry), perhaps at Belmond Napasai
