There are three identical Fairouz el Nil dahabiyas that can be chartered privately or booked on a shared basis. Sailing from Luxor to Aswan (5 nights) or back to your point of embarkation (7 nights), the dahabiyas are reminiscent of the stylish vessels that once took pashas through the timeless landscapes of Upper Egypt.

Our 10 night itinerary offers a relaxed, immersive holiday combining a five-night dahabiya Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan, with two nights in Cairo, where you will see the pyramids of Giza and the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and two nights to relax in Luxor. All itineraries can be tailored to different lengths and different requirements.

Accommodation

Each Fairouz el Nil dahabiya has six deluxe cabins, all of which come with panoramic windows, adjustable air-conditioning, a minibar, a safety deposit box and an ensuite private bathroom with shower, washbasin and w/c. At 16 sq.m, the guest cabins are noticeably larger than is typical on a dahabiya.

The Journey

The five and seven-night cruises include Luxor and Aswan and privately guided excursions led by an Egyptologist guide.

Facilities & Services

Guests aboard the dahabiya will enjoy elegant traditional décor combined with contemporary touches. Oriental carpets grace the floors, tables are set with stylish Chinaware, and smart dark-wood panelled walls are decorated with black-and-white photographs. A shaded split-level sundeck appointed with tables and comfy sofas runs along the top of each Fairouz el Nil dahabiya. This is the perfect place to unwind or perhaps enjoy a drink from the bar as the breathtaking Nile scenery glides by effortlessly before you.

Below deck, guests will find the spacious lounge with its small library, the dining area (offering both local and international cuisine) and guest rooms. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available aboard all three of the Fairouz El Nil dahabiyas..

Weather & Seasons

Egypt has year-round sun, and almost no rain. Daytime temperatures range from pleasantly warm in the winter to very hot in the summer. Northerly cities such as Cairo and Alexandria are generally about 5ºC cooler than southerly areas such as Aswan and Abu Simbel.

Getting Here

Departures are from Luxor or Aswan. To reach the docks, we recommend flying from Cairo to either destination. To Luxor it's an hour, and to Aswan it's 90 minutes. There are several daily flights, so there's no need to stay overnight in Cairo unless you wish to.
