Day 1: UK to Kigali
Fly to Kigali, via Nairobi
Day 2: Kigali
On arrival, you'll be met at the airport and driven to your hotel where you can settle in and freshen up. Kigali is home to the country’s Parliament Building, Geological Museum and the Genocide Memorial Centre. Your private guide will help you understand more about Rwanda’s tragic past. After a day of guided touring, retire to the comfortable Kigali Serena Hotel (images below)

Day 3: Kigali to Nyungwe Forest
We'll pick you up from the hotel for the 5 hour cross-country drive to Nyungwe Forest. It's a long but fascinating trip with plenty to see en route. You’ll stop in Butare to visit Nyanza Royal Palace, former home to the King of Rwanda, and take a look around the National Museum which showcases Rwandan life through the centuries. After the journey, enjoy a well-earned rest at Nuyngwe House, set in an expansive tea plantation overlooking seemingly endless jungle. The major attraction here are the chimpanzees and other primates which call the Nyungwe Forest National Park home. Nyungwe House is the latest luxury lodge within the One & Only portfolio bringing five star luxury to the Nyungwe Forest Reserve.

Day 4: Nyungwe Forest
Nyungwe hosts 13 different species of primate (including chimpanzee), and 275 bird species can be spotted among the mahoganies, giant tree ferns and delicate orchids. With an expert tracker you’ll explore the forest in search of primates, followed by a deliciously fresh and restorative cup of tea on your tour of Gisakura Tea Plantation. Overnight at Nyungwe House
Day 5: Nyungwe to Lake Kivu
Today we'll take you north along the shores of Lake Kivu (Africa's sixth largest lake) to Gisenyi, where you will stay at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel. This is the perfect place to relax in between safaris, with its own private beach and swimming pool. If you'd like to head out on the lake, there's boats and fishing rods.

Day 6: Lake Kivu to Volcanoes National Park
Today we'll take you on the one hour drive to Kinigi, arriving in the green foothills of the mighty Virungas - the towering volcanoes that rise up behind Lake Kivu. Your accommodation for the next two nights is lovely Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, which gazes up at the mountains. Conveniently, it's located right beside the entrance to Volcanoes National Park, one of the last habitats of the critically endangered mountain gorilla.

Day 7: Volcanoes National Park
Join an experienced guide and go gorilla tracking into the thick, wild forest in search of a resident family. Once you've tracked one down, you'll be granted a precious hour in their company, to watch them eat, groom and play. Overnight at Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge
Day 8: Sabyinyo Lodge to Kigali
On your last day, you’ll have the option to go and track gorilla for a second time or to relax at the lodge and absorb the awesome views. Later, we'll drive you back to Kigali (about 2 hours 30 minutes) where you’ll spend your last night back at the Kigali Serena Hotel.
Day 9: Rwanda to UK
Your Rwanda adventure is over as you fly home today via Nairobi, arriving early the following morning.
