Accommodation

The 45 spacious standard and deluxe rooms at Hotel Ion. All are modern and very comfy, with views across lava fields and towards Þingvellir National Park or Nesjavellir Geothermal Power Plant.

Activities & Experiences

Hotel Ion, and Iceland in general, is a year round destination for the adventurous. Snowmobiling, super-jeep tours, Aurora Borealis hunting, ice climbing, glacier hikes, bathing in hot springs, horse riding, fly fishing, caving, and white-water rafting.

Facilities & Services

An excellent restaurant, 10m outdoor thermal pool, spa treatments, extraordinary scenery and a long list of adventures on the doorstep.

Weather & Seasons

During winter (September to March) is best time to see the Aurora Borealis as the night is so dark. May, June and July are the driest months of the year. Mid-June to August is high season, but most highland tours don’t operate until July because of snow. At other times, many tourist facilities outside Reykjavík are closed.
