Musk Dahabiya, Nile Cruises, Egypt

Nile cruises aboard an elegant 6 cabin (all ensuite) dahabiya

7 night Egypt itinerary from £2,900 pp, including 5 nights full board on the dahabiya, guided excursions, 1 night in Aswan, 1 night in Luxor, and all domestic transfers.

The elegant Musk Dahabiya provides a sophisticated Nile cruise experience and combines traditional 19th-century architectural style with British colonial-influenced contemporary interiors. Offering 5 night cruises from Luxor to Aswan and 7 night sailings from Luxor to Luxor, this 40m twin-masted dahabiya has a maximum occupancy of 12 guests and will take you and your fellow passengers on a magical Nile journey to discover the incredible ancient Egyptian antiquities.

Our 7 night itinerary (which can easily be varied to suit individual preferences) offers a relaxed, immersive holiday combining 5 nights aboard the dahabiya with a night in Luxor at Al Moudira and a night in Aswan at the Old Cataract Hotel, plus all domestic transfers.

Accommodation

The Musk Dahabiya’s six ensuite guest cabins (three with double beds, three with twin beds) lead off from a central corridor that brings you to the dining room and lounge with its comfy seating and smart TV. Guest cabins (15 to 16 sq.m) are stylishly decorated and have polished dark wood floors and beamed ceilings. All cabins come with picture windows, high-quality bed linens, a minibar, a safety deposit box and individually controlled air-conditioning. The ensuite bathrooms are equipped with hairdryers, luxury toiletries, washbasins and showers.

The Journey

The five and seven-night cruises include Luxor and Aswan and privately guided excursions led by an Egyptologist guide.

Facilities & Services

While sailing along the Nile, much of your time will be spent on the lovely split-level sundeck, either relaxing on a sun lounger or sitting in the shade on a comfortable sofa or armchair. This is the perfect vantage point from which to observe the breathtaking and ever-changing river landscapes. As you unwind, refreshments, including fresh juices, coffee, and seasonal fruits, are available at the Wheel House Bar.

Meals aboard the Musk are served on deck or in the cosy dining room – depending on the season. Breakfast is always a buffet, while for lunch and dinner, a set menu is served. Guests should be aware the Musk Dahabiya sails under canvas when the wind permits but is pulled by a tugboat at other times.

Weather & Seasons

Egypt has year-round sun, and almost no rain. Daytime temperatures range from pleasantly warm in the winter to very hot in the summer. Northerly cities such as Cairo and Alexandria are generally about 5ºC cooler than southerly areas such as Aswan and Abu Simbel.

Getting Here

Departures are from Luxor or Aswan. To reach the docks, we recommend flying from Cairo to either destination. To Luxor it's an hour, and to Aswan it's 90 minutes. There are several daily flights, so there's no need to stay overnight in Cairo unless you wish to.
