Pacuare Jungle Lodge is a superb eco-retreat tucked away deep in the heart of Costa Rica's most pristine rainforest environment, on the banks of the Pacuare River. River rafting is the most exciting way to arrive and depart and Pacuare Lodge combines thrilling adventure activities and an abundance of wildlife. There's no phone, no TV and WiFi only reaches the reception area - so a perfect destination to relax and unplug.

Accommodation

Pacuare Lodge comprises just 21 spacious suites and bungalows constructed from sustainable hardwood, featuring king size beds, Egyptian cotton sheets, leather chairs, a spacious bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers and a long deck and a private dipping pool fed by spring water. Newest of all is the super-lux Jaguar Villa, sitting on a treetop platform and accessed via a private suspensions bridge. It sleeps up to 4 with a master bedroom and lounge / second bedroom, pool and extensive decking.

Activities & Experiences

Activities at the Lodge or nearby include bird watching, jungle trekking, cycling, zip-wiring, canopy tours, horse riding, kayaking, river rafting, swimming, yoga and spa treatments. Rafting is the means by which you arrive and leave Pacuare Lodge, though you can ask for transfers by jeep. The river is classified as grade 1-2 on the way in and grade 3-4 on the way out. It’s great fun, even if you’ve never done it before. The guides are professional and take good care of you.

Facilities & Services

Facilities at Pacuare Lodge include an open air restaurant and kitchen, a wine cellar and open sided riverside lounge area with small bar. The food here is delicious, serving a fusion of Costa Rican and exotic dishes using the freshest, seasonally available ingredients.

Weather & Seasons

November to April are the 'drier' season and regarded as the best months to visit. The ‘green’ season is from May to September, which sees tropical showers most afternoons. December to March is high season.

Getting Here

12 hour international flight from UK to San José, followed by a 2 hour 30 minute road transfer to the Pacuare River 'put in' spot (if you've opted to raft to the Lodge) and the 90 minute river rafting journey to Pacuare Lodge. Most people combine a stay here with a broader Costa Rica itinerary and we would be delighted to create a tailor-made itinerary for you.
