Riad El Fenn, Marrakech

One of our favourite luxury riads in Marrakech

3 nights from around £650pp sharing (low season), including daily breakfast, flights and transfers

Riad El Fenn, set in the heart of Marrakech's world famous Medina, is a luxury oasis in the bustling pink city.  Perfectly located for all the sights and sounds, and behind its walls there are two swimming pools, a roof terrace with magnificent views across Marrakech to the snow-caped Atlas Mountains beyond, quiet spots for tea or reading in a hammock, a spa, and excellent restaurant serving local and European cuisine.

Accommodation

Riad El Fenn has 28 rooms and suites, two of which have private terraces with plunge pools. They are all unique and each has a small or large sitting area In fact many of the rooms are simply named after their size, such as small, large, very large etc.) and en-suites with showers and baths. Expect scented candles, heady bath oils and large comfy beds, as well as mini bars, ipod docking stations and safes, plus 600-count hand-stitched Egyptian linen, bathrobes, complimentary wifi, Moroccan slippers and bedside mineral water, a personal safe, mini bar and hair dryer, eclectic artwork and air conditioning / heating.

Activities & Experiences

Exploring the Medina, haggling in the souks and absorbing the exotic sights and sounds of this vibrant and enchanting city will no doubt be top of your list. If you want to be even more active then you can start the morning by swimming laps at El Fenn, buy a day pass to a local gym or go for a run in a beautiful nearby park. Alternatively El Fenn can organise personal training sessions at the riad or book you a yoga or pilates class on the roof terrace.  Combine sight-seeing and exercise with a personalised jogging tour around the sites of the medina or a cycling trip for groups of up to six people. The Atlas Mountains are also perfect for a day’s hiking and Marrakech is of course well known for its golf courses.

Facilities & Services

El Fenn is one of the few riads in the medina with a swimming pool. In fact, they’ve got two (both lined in carrara marble) plus a rooftop plunge pool with views of the Koutoubia mosque. The spa is a peaceful sanctuary for traditional beauty treatments and you can enjoy an indulgent body massage before being served mint tea by the spa pool. You can order food anytime from morning until night, anywhere from

the roof terrace and restaurant to your room (there's both Moroccan and European fare to enliven your taste buds).

Or drop by the El Fenn bar for a cocktail by the pool.

Weather & Seasons

Marrakech is best avoided during the peak summer months of July and August - it's simply too hot!  But for the rest of the year you can expect it to be warm and sunny.  For example you can expect highs of 20°C in December and January, 25°C in March and 29°C in May and October.

Getting Here

Flying time from UK to Marrakech is 3 hours, followed by a 20 to 30 minute transfer to the Medina.
