Formerly the Banyan Tree Al Wadi, now a Ritz-Carlton property, is a luxury desert resort with individual, private pool villas dotted around the desert landscape, offering utter seclusion and relaxation. The resort also has a number of wildlife activities on offer thanks to its position within a 500-hectare, protected nature reserve, giving the property a unique feel.
Accommodation
Al Wadi Desert Ras Al Khaimah has 101 individual pool villas, stylishly designed to reflect Arabian heritage and with a modern interpretation of traditional Bedouin architecture. All villas have just one bedroom. There are 70 Al Rimal Pool Villas, 16 Al Khaimah Tented Pool Villas, and 15 Al Sahari Tented Pool Villas. All villas have modern comforts including a plasma TV, DVD player, mini audio system, wifi, air conditioning and an in-villa safe. They also have a mini bar, a hairdryer, bathrobes and a turndown service in the evenings.
Activities & Experiences
Al Wadi Desert Ras Al Khaimah has an experience centre where guests, both families and couples, can sign up for the various options on offer, including archery, falconry, stargazing, sand boarding, horse and camel riding, bicycle rides, desert or mountain safaris, nature trails
and bird watching.
Families
Al Wadi Desert Rash Al Khaimah has a Ritz Kids Club (09.00 - 18.00) open to children from the age of 4 with a range of indoor and outdoor activities including kids archery, mini falconry and owl interaction, pony rides, bedtime stories under the stars, video games, table games, mini shop and kitchen, fish feeding and a mews and stables tour. Babysitting services are also available on request.
Facilities & Services
The resort has two restaurants: Safran offering a fine-dining Indian menu in a distinctly Arabian setting, and Al Waha which offers international and Arabic cuisine in a beautiful setting honouring traditional Middle Eastern architecture. There are two bars: Samar Lounge offering a selection of wines and cocktails as well as cigars, and the Moon Bar which is on the roof terrace of Samar Lounge, offering shisha and presenting the perfect location for sunset and for star gazing. There are plenty of romantic places for destination dining including the The Tower, built as a traditional Arabian watchtower with stunning views over the desert, or even an Arabian or Western-style barbecue under the stars on the sand dunes with your own personal chef and butler.
Weather & Seasons
The best time to visit the UAE is between October and March, when temperatures hang around the mid-20s and the humidity is under control.
Getting Here
Ras Al Khaimah International Airport is a 15 minute drive from the resort. However Dubai International Airport is still the main point of entry to the UAE due to the accessibility of numerous international flights.
