Ruckomechi Camp, Mana Pools, Zimbabwe
Set on the banks of the Zambezi, offering excellent guiding, service and accommodation
Available as part of your tailor-made tour of the region, created for you by our destination specialists
Ruckomechi Camp is located in the heart of one of Africa's most iconic wilderness areas: Mana Pools National Park. The camp is set along the Zimbabwean bank of the mighty Zambezi River and is managed by the highly acclaimed Wilderness Safaris, so the quality of guiding, service and accommodation is of a very high standard.
Accommodation
Ruckomechi Camp has 10 spacious en suite tented rooms, including a honeymoon suite, and a 2 bedroom family suite. All have fabulous views of the Zambezi. Each large tent has a spacious bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers.
Activities & Experiences
Ruckomechi Camp provides a varied safari experience both on and off the river. Game drives in the early morning and afternoon are in 4x4 safari vehicles. Mana Pools is known to be one of the best, and safest, locations to walk with big game in Africa. Guests are accompanied by professional armed guides and expert trackers for an incredible safari experience. On the water: canoeing and motorised boating are a wonderful way to experience the Zambezi River.
Facilities & Services
The central dining, bar, library and lounge areas face the escarpment and are connected to the rest of the camp by low-level walkways that minimise the environmental impact. There's also an infinity pool surrounded by comfortable sun loungers and hammocks.
Weather & Seasons
Mana Pools has a moderate to sub-tropical climate with three distinct seasons: the rainy season is from November to April during which Ruckomechi is closed. May to July is Zimbabwe's winter, when the weather is cool and dry, and August to October is summer, when the weather is hot and dry. In terms of game viewing, the dryer months are a superb time to visit. Alternatively come for some superb birdwatching at the end of the rainy season.
Getting Here
Ruckomechi can be reached by light aircraft from Zimbabwe's capital Harare or by charter from Victoria Falls or from any of the other safari areas in the country. The camp can also be accessed by road and boat transfer from Lusaka or Victoria Falls. The nearest airstrip to Ruckomechi is Mana West, just a 20 minute drive from camp.
