There's one!

Shipwreck Lodge, Skeleton Coast, Namibia

Enjoy wild, haunting scenery along this legendary coastline from your base at Shipwreck Lodge

Available as part of your tailor-made itinerary designed by our Namibia specialists

Castaway in wooden cabins among dramatic sand dunes and the Atlantic Ocean, between the Hoarusib and Hoanib river in Namibia’s Skeleton Coast Park. Within this haunting scenery you’ll discover an area rich with wildlife from the black rhino, desert adapted lion, elephant, black-faced impala, kudu, Hartmann’s mountain zebra, and seals. To one side of the lodge there's far-reaching golden sand, whilst the desert in the opposite direction is swathed in greenery, with marshland and forest providing water and habitat for the desert-adapted wildlife which roams the Skeleton Coast.

Accommodation

There are 12 spacious cabins, including connecting family options, designed to reflect the desert landscape punctuated by shipwrecks and bleached whalebones. Each has a private outdoor deck with soaking tub, and wood burning stove.

Activities & Experiences

During your time at Shipwreck Lodge, you can visit the seal colony at Möwe Bay, take a cruise on the Hoarusib River and see the natural geological formation of the Clay castles, home of the brown hyenas. Game drives will take you through the Skeleton Coast National Park, perhaps stopping to visit a real shipwreck. After a day out exploring, you can relax with a sundowner on the viewing deck where you will see more of the wildlife who have adapted to live in Africa’s driest region.
