Six Senses Barwara Fort, Rajasthan, India
Luxury boutique and all-suite spa hotel - opening late 2020
Available as part of a tailor-made tour designed for you by our India experts
Originally slated for opening in Spring 2020, but now pushed back to late 2020, clearly the meticulous restoration of a magnificent 14th century Rajasthani fort by Six Senses is taking longer than anticipated. But, as one of our favourite brands (and our clients!), we're certain that the wait will be worthwhile. We expect a gracious, elegant environment, with an emphasis on space, tranquility and personalized service. Six Senses Fort Barwara is a 3.5 hour drive from Jaipur and a 30 minute drive from Ranthambore National Park, where you can go in search of the land’s wild tigers.
Accommodation
There will be 48 suites ranging from 750 sq.ft (70 sq.m) to 3,000 sq.ft (280 sq.m). The East Wing overlooks the countryside and the West Wing offers views to Barwara village and beyond. Each suite is designed in contemporary Rajasthani style, reinterpreting the fort's rich history and subtly incorporating modern technology along with handmade mattresses, cotton bedding and all the fundamentals for a good night’s sleep.
Wellness & Spa
The 30,000 sq.ft (2,800 sq.m) Six Senses Spa and fitness centre is located within the original women's palace. It offers an extensive Ayurvedic “whole body” healing system, meditation and personalized wellness programs based on the preventative principles of Eastern medicine and results-oriented Western influences; using a range of indigenous essential oils, muds, clays, gels and vegetable oils, all lovingly blended for their therapeutic energy.
Facilities & Services
In addition to the spa, fitness and wellness facilities, there will be indoor and outdoor pools, personalised butler service, a range of cultural excursions, and tiger safaris in Ranthambore National Park. Rajasthani-inspired fresh, sustainable cuisine highlighting Indian elements and flavors is the overarching theme of the several dining venues, sourcing local products from the resort’s organic garden and farms in the nearby village.
Weather & Seasons
For warm, sunny weather October to March is the best time to travel to Rajasthan. December and January can have chilly nights. Temperatures in the desert areas are always hot in the daytime, but they can get pretty cold once the sun goes down.
Getting Here
Depending on your itinerary, we will advise the best routing for getting to Six Senses Barwara Fort. As a guide, it's a 3 hour 30 minute drive from Jaipur and 30 minutes from the tigers in Ranthambore National Park
