7 nights from around £2,750pp, including full board, resident Egyptologist, all guided excursions and entrance fees

The epitome of old-world charm and character, often referred to as the "Orient Express of the Nile", the Swiss-managed SS Misr has just 24 cabins and offers the opportunity of sailing on what was once the Royal Yacht of King Farouk II of Egypt. The SS Misr offers luxury seven-night cruises with its elegant interiors full of historic styling, first class service and cuisine, a huge upper deck for relaxing and enjoying the views, even from the refreshing plunge pool. The entire experienced is enriched by expert Egyptologists.
Accommodation
The air-conditioned cabins (16) and suites (8) have luxurious marble bathrooms with bathtubs, TV, tea and coffee-making facilities, a safety deposit box, a mini-bar, internet access, and floor-to-ceiling windows. Standard cabins (21 sqm) are wood-panelled and have either twin or Queen beds, while the Suites (30 sqm) have twin or King-size beds and a living area containing a stylish loveseat and chairs. A panoramic terrace offering spectacular 180-degree views of the Nile is the main feature of the two beautifully designed Panoramic Suites (35 sqm). Two smaller cabins are dedicated for single travellers (14.5 sqm).
The Journey
The boat offers 4 night cruises between Luxor and Aswan (and vice versa) and you may elect to sail in both directions as an 8 night option. On board, and for all your guided excursions, you’ll have the luxury of insight from the boat's resident Egyptologists. Depending on time of travel, you can also visit the lesser known site of Dendarah north of Luxor.
Facilities & Services
The upper sundeck has both shaded areas and sun loungers that are ideal for soaking up the sun; and a refreshing plunge pool to cool off in. Gourmet cuisine is served in the restaurant, and there's a spacious and very comfortable bar and lounge. Attention to detail is evident throughout the boat, whether it’s the crystal and china used at Marasem - the SS Misr’s main restaurant - the pianist entertaining guests in the Saraya Lounge after dinner, or the scented towels that refresh guests on their return from an excursion.

Weather & Seasons
Egypt has year-round sun, and almost no rain. Daytime temperatures range from pleasantly warm in the winter to very hot in the summer. Northerly cities such as Cairo and Alexandria are generally about 5ºC cooler than southerly areas such as Aswan and Abu Simbel.
Getting Here
Departures are from Luxor or Aswan. To reach the docks, we recommend flying from Cairo to either destination. To Luxor it's an hour, and to Aswan it's 90 minutes. There are several daily flights, so there's no need to stay overnight in Cairo unless you wish to.
